Here is a perfect example of stepping outside of your comfort zone.  Liz volunteered to assist the Dentist here at the Dental clinic in Candelaria.  Little did she know what she actually raised her hand for.  Being in an environment with a language barrier opens up new challenges for communication, and before you know it saying si’ becomes the easiest response.  Which is what happened here.

At first she was handed a spit bucket to hold teeth being extracted and for any blood the patient needed to relieve from their mouths.  She warned the Dentist she had no prior experience or knowledge of dentistry but the doctor simply laughed, as if it were meant for a joke.  Eventually the spit bucket was replaced with a pair of pliers attached with a needle and thread.

Can you put yourself in this situation?
Foreign country.  check.

Language barrier. check.
Blood. check.
Needle in hand. check.

It is time to act, what do you do?
